VICTORIA BOLAND: BIO

BIO

Victoria Boland is a "vevila", a Gaelic term for "a woman of melodious voice". Born with a song in her heart and music in her soul, Victoria first charmed audiences with her rich, mellow voice at the age of 6, and cut her first recording at age 8 in Australia.

In her teens, Victoria was awarded 2 scholarships to Boston's Berklee College of Music for her jazz vocals but after taking out the title ofCanadian Country 18 & Under Singing Champion in 2000, Victoria turned to country music for 4 years. In 2001, she wrote, produced and toured with her own CD,  ALL WOMAN GIRL. After working on a country project with members of Elton John's band in 2003/4, despite winning the coveted title of2004 winner of the Canadian Open Country Singing Contest, Victoria retired from country music.

Other highlights of Victoria's musical career include performances to a standing ovation from an audience of 18,000 at a Shania Twain concert in 1999 & singing to 16,000 at Queen Elizabeth's Golden Jubilee in 2003.


Today (2005) Victoria is an international entertainer whose versatility as a vocalist and performer continues to attract interest from various areas of show business and the music industry. She headlined in a tribute show in Hong Kong for four months over 2005/6 and followed that with a 6-month engagement as a duo/tribute act with her partner, Andrew Rudd, on the Windsurf, a Holland America cruise ship during the second half of 2006.  In 2007, she & Andrew performed at the Tim Hortons Brier and from 2007 - 2009, they have headlined in the Superstars Tribute Tour which has raised over $100,000 for the Children's Wish Foundation and various other Canadian charities. More shows are already scheduled for the Spring/Summer of 2010, so keep checking the EVENTS page for a show near you.

Despite being a successful tribute artist, Victoria's primary focus has always been, and still is, her singer/songwriter aspirations. She and Andrew are currently working hard on their new CD which is being kept tightly under wraps. All we can tell you is that this CD will be very different and "puts music back into music!"
